Building a Stronger Future for the Hobby

Certified Trading Card Association (CTCA)
If you had asked me just a few years ago whether I would one day found a national trade association for the trading card industry, I would have laughed.
Like so many collectors, I simply loved the hobby. I understood the excitement of finding a grail card, the friendships built through collecting, and the incredible community that exists around trading cards. But I also saw something else—a hobby growing at an unprecedented pace while facing equally significant challenges.
As the industry expanded into a multi-billion-dollar global marketplace, there was no independent organization dedicated to bringing every corner of the hobby together. Collectors, retailers, breakers, grading companies, manufacturers, marketplaces, distributors, auction houses, and content creators all shared a common passion, yet there was no unified voice focused on trust, education, transparency, collaboration, and the long-term health of the hobby.
I believed the industry deserved better.
That belief became the foundation of the Certified Trading Card Association (CTCA).
Why CTCA Exists
The CTCA was never created to compete with anyone.
It was created to bring people together.
Our mission is simple: strengthen the trading card industry through collaboration, education, professional standards, consumer confidence, and shared leadership.
When the hobby succeeds, everyone benefits—from the first-time collector buying their first pack to the largest companies helping shape the industry's future.
The CTCA exists to create that future together.
Why I'm Leading This Effort
For more than 27 years, I've built my career leading people, solving complex operational challenges, and creating organizations focused on long-term success.
Those experiences taught me that meaningful change doesn't happen because one person has all the answers. It happens by bringing the right people together around a common purpose.
That philosophy has shaped everything we've built at the CTCA.
In a remarkably short time, we've launched initiatives such as the Global Trading Card Registry (GTCR), the Healthy Hobby Initiative, the CTCA Grading Council, industry working groups, educational resources, and a growing community of collectors and businesses committed to moving the hobby forward.
More importantly, we've begun bringing together organizations that may have never before sat at the same table to discuss what's best for the industry as a whole.
That's the kind of collaboration the hobby deserves.
A Collective Effort
While I founded the CTCA, this organization has never been about one person.
It is being built alongside respected advisors, industry executives, collectors, legal professionals, grading experts, retailers, breakers, manufacturers, content creators, and volunteers who all believe in the same vision.
Their expertise, guidance, and willingness to collaborate make the CTCA stronger every day.
Together, we are creating an organization that represents the entire hobby—not any single company, platform, or individual.
Looking Ahead
We're only at the beginning.
The trading card industry continues to grow at an incredible pace, bringing new opportunities along with new challenges. The decisions we make today will shape the hobby for years to come.
My vision is straightforward: a hobby built on trust, strengthened by collaboration, guided by meaningful standards, and united by a shared commitment to collectors and businesses alike.
No single company can accomplish that alone.
No single leader can accomplish that alone.
But together, we can.
Whether you're a collector, retailer, breaker, grading company, manufacturer, marketplace, distributor, auction house, or content creator, you have a role to play in building the next chapter of this industry.
Thank you for believing in our mission.
I invite you to join us as we build a safer, smarter, and stronger future for the hobby.
